| Pierre Girieud has just died. Sick for many months, his disappearance saddens his many friends. Born in Marseilles in 1875, came to Paris young, he had as a friend Joachim Gasquet, Paul Valéry, Alfred Lombard and most of the artists of his generation. Pierre Girieud united the love of ancient Greece with the cult of Gauguin. Using wax paint and oil paint with the same success, he celebrated the Mediterranean sites in numerous landscapes. He was a great hard worker, exhibiting at the Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne, where he was on the committee until illness kept him away.
His funeral takes place at 9 a.m. in the church of Nogent sur Marne.
