| Who would judge the current Pierre Girieud by his two canvases exhibited here would risk the most complete error. His still life of hydrangeas treated with yellow, pink, blue, partitioned spots, is however a
very interesting effect, and its somewhat blackish undergrowth retains its suppleness; but that we are still far from the mystical Girieud, enthusiastic about the Italian primitives that he shows himself now, simplifying the line which is always harmonized and decorative above all. It is that Mr. Girieud has an exhibition open at the same time in the middle of Paris and from which he could not separate the whole. So he classifies himself a bit as if on the sidelines. |
